CAMS member wins top award at Mt. Ida
by Tim Irby
Larry Botsford took his 2009 Corvette Z06 to the Mt. Ida Good Ole Days on Memorial Day weekend and took home both the Circle of Champion trophy and Dub’s Choice trophy.
Larry was a little surprised to say the least. He had received his Circle of Champion award and was packing up to leave when someone said that his name was called again. He went back up to the podium area and was pleasantly pleased that he’d received Dub’s Choice as well. Dub’s Choice is like the Best of Show. Dub told Larry that he liked fast cars and that’s why he picked Larry’s Vette.
Larry’s cyber gray metallic Vette has an LS7 under the hood that grinds out 505 HP. “Nothing’s customized, yet," says Larry.
Larry is a real Corvette officiator. He’s had seven Corvettes and currently owns four. Two are having some mechanical upgrades and one is waiting repainting after getting a very poor quality paint job, which was supposed to be a “Better Than Show Quality” job. His love for Corvettes started while in college when he bought his first Corvette, a 1959, by just picking up the payments. Unfortunately, Larry could not afford it either and had to let it go. How he wishes he had that one back.
Larry was born in Conway and lived there until moving to Texarkana, Arkansas in the 6th grade. He lived there through high school. He moved to Little Rock after high school to attend college. Currently he lives in North Little Rock. He’s retired from the Federal government and operates a small tax and accounting business. He’s been a CAMS member since 2007.
